Cow Chip Biscuits


3 cups flour
6 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp lard
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 1/3 cups milk


1. Sift together all dry ingredients.
2. Cut in lard until flaky pieces form.
3. Add milk to moisten mix until sticky.
4. Turn onto floured board, pat gently until dough is thick.
5. Cut biscuits from dough and place in large (18-20) greased, warm Dutch oven (do not crowd).
6. Replace cover of Dutch oven and place coals on top.
7. Bake approximately 20 minutes.
8. Serve with honey or preserves or beans or chili.
