Apple Pecan Pie

 

     

 

      1    9" pie shell,Unbaked

           filling

      6 c  apples,peeled & sliced

    1/2 c  light brown sugar

    1/4 c  granulated sugar

    1/2 t  salt

      2 T  flour

    1/4 t  nutmeg

    1/2 t  cinnamon

      1 T  lemon juice

      1 T  butter

           topping

    1/4 c  light brown sugar

    1/4 c  flour

      2 T  butter

    1/2 c  pecans,chopped

 

Preheat oven to 425 Degrees

 

Steam the apple slices in 1 or 2 TBSP water in a covered saucepan for 5

minutes.  Remove from heat & add the sugars, salt, flour, numeg,

cinnamon, lemon juice & butter.  Mix well and turn into unbaked pie

shell.

 

Prepare topping.  Blend sugar, flour & butter.  Sprinkle on top of pie.

Sprinkle nuts over topping.

 

Cover top of pie with foil & bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then

reduce oven heat to 375 degrees.  Remove foil & bake for 30 to 40 minutes longer.
