Confederate Chowder


1 clove slivered garlic
2 lg. onions
4 lg. stalks celery
2 lg. carrots
4 lg. potatoes
3 lb. peeled, deveined shrimp
1 gal. milk


Dice all vegetables, saute in 1 stick of pure butter until tender. Add 3 pounds shrimp. Simmer while preparing sauce. Mix 1 1/2 cups flour with enough water to make a thin gravy. Add 2 additional cups of water, cook over medium heat until thickens, then stir in 1 gallon of milk. Season to taste with salt and pepper, adding Seafood Seasoning to creole seasoning. Blend all ingredients. Simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Makes a hearty meal for 6.
