Butterfly Cupcakes

1 chocolate cake mix
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. vegetable shortening

2. Mix and cook milk, vanilla, flour and salt until thickened. Let it cool. (Do not put in refrigerator.)
3. Beat butter, sugar and shortening until creamy. Pour in the milk mixture and mix until creamy (this takes a long time). Add chopped walnuts if desired.
4. Put this cream mixture into the holes on the cupcakes and put the wings on. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
