Greek Doughnuts

Ingredients:

• 2 c. warm water
• 2 pkg. yeast
• 2 c. milk, scalded & cooled to lukewarm
• 2 tbsp. sugar
• 2 tbsp. butter, melted
• 2 tsp. salt
• 2 eggs
• Flour
• Vegetable oil for frying (about 1 qt.)



Preparation:

Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar to the milk. Combine yeast, milk mixture, butter and salt. Add eggs. Add approximately 10 cups of flour to mixture. Batter should be a little thicker than pancake batter. Cove and put in warm place to rise, for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Heat vegetable oil to 360 degrees and drop by the teaspoon. Fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Top with syrup.

Syrup: Bring 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water to boiling, about 15 minutes. Add 1 cup honey and mix well. Also add juice of 1 small orange. Dip doughnuts in this syrup. Then sprinkle cinnamon over them.
