German Beef Rolls


8 breakfast steaks (lg.)
1 lb. bacon, cooked & crumbled
3/4 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 c. meat stock or beef broth
2 tbsp. gourmet mustard
3/4 c. diced dill pickles
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tbsp. each of salt & pepper


Spread each piece of beef (thinly) with mustard; sprinkle equal amounts of bacon, pickle and onion on each piece of beef. Roll each piece of beef and secure with thread. Fry in oil until well browned. Drain oil and add beef broth. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for about 1 hour or until beef is tender. Add flour mixture to thicken. Remove threads from beef. Serve beef rolls with rice, noodles or potatoes. Serves 6 to 8.
